Three great shows in 30 short hours

Hey Everybody! It's Monday morning, the sun is shining through these Humboldt Park windows as I sip my coffee and fondly remember the festivities of Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, and Saturday evening. It was a 30-hour space of time to remember...though much of it has already been forgotten...we all know how that goes Im sure.

Friday night we were warmly welcomed back to the infamous Venice Cafe in St. Louis where we hadn't played since fall of last year. Uncle Bill once again graced us with some spoken word between sets, and we succesully partied hard with everyone. The evening also reunited the band with the vehicle that changed our lives, or at least provided for some nightmares...yes, I'm speaking of the School Bus from Marietta, GA that got us back to the midwest after our home burnt down in a blaze of glory last November. If some of you avid readers of this here blog haven't heard the full story of the time spent in that magical, exhaust-leaking, non-insolated, no-shutting-off-for-fear-of-push-starting-again-in-the-pouring-rain, but still-getting-us-to-the-gig-breathing-if-not-fully-conscious, time-warping bus, leave a comment on this message and I'll try to elaborate. In the meantime, I will say it was nice to revisit the old piece of history and I'm glad Pingle is able to possibly be made whole on his investment in the near future.

The next morning, Saturday May 19, we all got moving early enough in the day to get out to Collinsville and celebrate the graduation of Kaitlin, and got to party in the afternoon sun with her family and friends. It was a beautiful day and an experience I will not soon forget. Not too many high-school graduates get to have THE 56 Hope Road play in their back yard for their graduation party, and we were more than honored to be a part of it. Kaitlin is one hip chick, and she apparently doesn't fall from the tree with her family being equally hip.

As soon as we hit our last note at the party, we packed up as quickly as possible and jumped on the road back to Chicago to pull up just in time to get our stuff loaded in at Wise Fool's and take a couple breaths, a few beers perhaps, and then ROCKED the ROOF off of Wise Fools Pub in Lincoln Park, Chicago. Our hometown fans and friends were quite a welcome site and our first show back at Wise Fools since January was a night that reminded me there's no place like home. It was the perfect kick-off to our residency beginning THIS WEDNESDAY, May 23 and continuing throughout the end of June. Looking forward to seeing everyone a lot over the next few months.

Now we've licked our minor wounds from the intense quick-trip down to St. Louis and back, we're looking forward to this THURSDAY at SUMMER CAMP!!! We'll be rockin the barn Thursday night with Tea Leaf Green, and I know it will be a momentous occasion. But first, we'll rock with our Chicago peeps this Wednesday. Can't wait to see everyone soon!
